Beef satay is a street food classic. This recipe sees mouth-watering marinated scotch steak served on skewers alongside a delicious satay sauce for a perfectly balanced dish that the whole family will love.

Beef satay is a street food classic. This recipe sees mouth-watering marinated scotch steak served on skewers alongside a delicious satay sauce for a perfectly balanced dish that the whole family will love.
Ingredients
600g Quality Mark scotch fillet steaksi
cut into 3-4cm cubes1 Tbsp fish sauce
1 Tbsp brown sugar
3 garlic cloves
minced1/2 tsp chilli flakes
200 ml satay sauce
store-bought or see below
1 tsp garlic clove
minced1⁄2 onion
finely chopped1 red chilli
deseeded and chopped1/2 tsp chilli flakes
1 Tbsp brown sugar
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 cup coconut cream
Method
In a bowl, add the fish sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic and chilli flakes.
Add 2 tablespoons satay sauce and whisk to combine.
Add the steak pieces and stir to combine.
Cover and marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
Soak 8 bamboo skewers in water.
Thread marinated meat onto skewers.
Cook the skewers in a large, oiled frying pan or on the barbecue grill for 5-7 minutes total, turning to cook on all sides.
Serve with satay sauce.
If making the Satay sauce at home, cook garlic, onion and chilli in a dash of oil for 3-4 minutes until soft and fragrant.
Add the sugar, soy sauce, peanut butter and coconut cream and warm through.
